The M&A industry is poised for vigorous activity in the next couple of years. While the COVID-19 pandemic shut down certain industry sectors for a period of time and dramatically impacted activity in others, the fundraising by family offices and private equity groups continued to be robust. As a result, equity markets are bulging with liquidity and are aggressive for deal origination.

Deal Highlights and Environment

In Q1 of 2022, a client in the sports media business engaged Trident to offer for sale their entire digital video library, trademarks, and media assets. This unique pro boxing video collection has been created over time by a globally recognized host, executive producer, and personality. His history goes back to Muhammad Ali's career start at the 5th Street gym. The content includes 62 half-hour television shows as well as several interviews with A-list Hollywood actors relevant to boxing. Each show features a one-on-one in-depth interview with the star, followed by a sparring session to demonstrate technique and form.

Another recent engagement involves a Texas-based HVAC company that offers both residential and commercial services. The U.S. HVAC systems market size was valued at USD 15.16 billion in 2020. It is expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.0% from 2021 to 2028. Trident expects this segment along with business services, distribution, and light manufacturing to be in high demand.

Team Spotlight: Managing Partner & Founder Henry Ennis, MBA

Henry Ennis brings over 35 years of sales, finance and operations experience in both public and privately held companies, large multi-national, and mid-cap service firms. He is an accomplished M&A professional with 25+ tombstones and an expansive industry network.

Henry founded Trident World Ventures, now Trident M&A Advisors in 2008. Previously, he held the position of Vice President of Channel Revenue at PRG-Schultz, a global audit recovery company. Prior, Henry spent over 10 years in various senior financial management positions with Sea-Land Services, Inc., a global logistics company. Additionally, he was Treasurer for two public insurance companies.

Henry has a BS in Finance from the University of New Orleans and an MBA from the University of Texas (Dallas).
